About
the Conference
|
The Barnabas Foundation Planned Giving Conference is designed
especially for member organizations. Whether you are new to development, devote only a portion of your time to planned giving or are a seasoned planned giving
professional, you will find sessions that challenge and encourage you in your work.
Marketing of planned gifts is integral to many presentations and workshops. Your organization’s marketing and promotional staff will benefit from the expertise shared during conference sessions.
The focus of this year’s conference is about how we can reach the growing number of women who support your ministries. As a keynote, we’ve asked Lynne Marie Kohm, a professor at Regent University’s School of Law, to help you understand the unique characteristics of women as they consider charitable gifts and ultimately, their legacy.

Pre-Conference
What can we do to improve our website? How can we best incorporate planned giving information? These are two questions we’re hearing more frequently from member organizations. During this session we will share tips for improving website effectiveness and some “dos” and “don’ts” for online fundraising. We’ll also look at approaches for integrating planned gifts into your site.
In addition, we’ll explore best practices for email communication which includes a few cautions about how some organizations are incorporating its use. Relationship building versus fundraising will be an important dimension of our exploration. The role of social media will also be discussed.

Understanding their unique characteristics, as well as their fears, is critical to helping them achieve their charitable goals and ultimately, their legacy. Let’s Examine Some Cold Cases
Amy Bakker Baty, J.D., Planned Giving Attorney, Barnabas Foundation
|
Offered 10:00 only
|
|
|
Last year’s breakout session explaining a day in the life of a Barnabas Foundation planner met with great enthusiasm. This session is a more detailed follow-up in which we will examine some fascinating cases. We’ve called them “cold cases” because in most instances, an estate plan already
existed for these clients. But as we review the situation to determine what benefits both the client and the charity, we recognize that some changes need to be made. This session provides important documentation of the need a continuing relationship with your donors and to “reopen” or update estate plans periodically.
