Services We Provide for Member Schools

  • Planned Giving Services for donors. Our Planned Giving professionals will meet with your donors in complete confidentiality. We will provide an analysis that summarizes our conversation and the recommended Estate Plan, which the donor can bring to his or her attorney for preparation of legal documents. We also work with attorneys and other advisors selected by the donors with whom we meet.
  • Marketing Support for Planned Giving Services. We work with you to help market Planned Gifts by providing specific materials that you can adapt for your own use.
  • Administration of Charitable Trusts and Gift Annuities. Our gift management and administration services assist both donors and charities in delivering and overseeing gifts that are complex to administer. These services offer convenience to the donor and expertise to the charity. We help donors make effective decisions about their charitable giving and provide quality gift management to our member schools.

    Barnabas Foundation issues Charitable Gift Annuities on behalf of its member organizations. While some members may issue their own Gift Annuities, many organizations are either too small or do not have the administrative staff to manage Gift Annuities. With Barnabas Foundation's Charitable Gift Annuity program, member organizations can offer the benefits of Charitable Gift Annuities as well as access the promotional materials to market them.
  • Investment of Endowment and Foundation Assets. We assist organizations and member schools in the management of endowment and foundation assets through access to a diversified group of asset classes and the use of quality investment firms.  Learn more...
  • Administration of a donor-advised fund. Our donor-advised fund, the Stewards Fund, provides the flexibility to ensure that gifts are applied in the most effective, advantageous way. A donor can give appreciated assets, like stock; proceeds from the sale of a business; or use the Fund as an alternative to a family foundation. The Stewards Fund accommodates many charitable gift opportunities, and also allows the donor to designate multiple charities from a single gift.
  • Review of Planned Giving programs, including recommendations. Our Planned Giving professionals share their experience and expertise with our member schools and organizations. They are eager to assist in advancing an effective and productive Planned Giving program.

  • We partner with Christian ministry organizations to provide Planned Giving services. Professionals at Barnabas Foundation provide advice to individuals and families concerning their Estate Plans. As Christians, our focus is on the opportunities and advantages of including charitable gifts in these plans. Some of the largest gifts that organizations receive are generated from sound advice in the Planned Giving process.
  • We understand the needs of non-profit ministry organizations.  A significant part of the experience we provide to member organizations is that of working totally in ministry support. We understand the financial requirements of ministry programs and the development work necessary to sustain them. We also bring a heart for ministry that advances God's kingdom.
  • We strive to create a stewardship mindset.  Stewardship education and development is a very important focus of Barnabas Foundation. It is our desire to provide encouragement and resource ideas to help motivate Christians to be faithful stewards of the financial resources God has given them.
  • We help individuals and families give more to ministry through an effective gift structure.  We work with donors to develop a plan that considers both their individual and family needs. We also urge them to develop an Estate Plan that reflects their values, which includes supporting Christian ministries in most cases.
  • We have a proven ability to close Planned Gifts. During fiscal year ending July 31, 2008, Barnabas Foundation bequest activity was over $105 million, bringing all-time bequest activity to over $1.66 billion. Completed bequests within fiscal year 2008 totaled $46.5 million, bringing all-time completions to over $1.07 billion.
  • We bring a distinctive Christian perspective to Estate Planning. As Christians, we believe that each of us is a steward (manager) of all that God has entrusted to us. This perspective distinguishes us from others who provide Estate Planning information and advice.
  • We provide top-quality asset management services. Barnabas Foundation offers member organizations access to top quality asset management that, in many instances, would not be available to organizations individually. For many of our members, managing their assets is a challenge. Difficulties range from committee turnover and differing ideas on what type of investments are appropriate to attaining a maximum return with limited administrative expense.
